An exotic island in Glasgow?...surely not

How else would you rather spend your day than forgetting about all your worries and stresses and sipping on an icy cold cocktail?! Sounds ideal, doesn't it? Well, I have found the perfect place to turn this dream into a reality...Tiki Bar & Kitsch Inn. This bar provides the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. As soon as you step into the venue you are transported into an exotic island haven.

An exotic escape in Glasgow...Tiki Bar

Upon entry into the bar we were greeted by a lovely staff member and shown to our seats. It should be noted that Tiki bar doesn't take drinks bookings and it is just a walk in basis. My friends and I went on a Tuesday evening at around 7pm and there were only a few other groups in. There were plenty of seats inside and there is also a beer garden to the side of the bar which usually has people sitting in it (that is when the weather isn't freezing and wet, something that doesn't happen often in Glasgow). However, for the cold weather days there are heaters that are provided and the majority of the outside space is covered over so you don't have to worry about the rain ruining your hair and make-up.

The Tiki Bar is a basement bar that is located on Bath Street, serving a variety of rum, gin and vodka cocktails. The prices for the cocktails range from £7 to £111!!! Bit of a price range, but this just shows there is something there for everyone. It is worth checking which drinks are on their mid week promotions, as some cocktails can be discounted by up to 50% which is very reasonable (especially handy if you're a student like myself). The cocktails are definitely good value for money due to the strength of the drinks, so you're in for a good night if you chose to stop off here. If you're feeling daring why not try the Zombie - described as a blend of 5 old aged rums. Due to the strength of the Zombie you are limited to two per person. I have heard of people trying this before and they thought they could hack it, but being carried home would suggest otherwise...

My friends and I ordered a variety of cocktails from the menu. Our personal favourites were the: Blue Hawaiian, Wellington's Helmet, Deep Sea Punch, Saturn and a Rum Bongo - to name just a few. The cocktails are all served in Tiki glasses which are amazing and super instragramable!

In order: Blue Hawaiian, Wellington's Helmet, Deep Sea Punch, Saturn & Rum Bongo

The bar had a good atmosphere with mood lighting and authentic music playing in the background which made the experience enjoyable and added to the ambience.

Upstairs there is a lounge called the Kitsch Inn which serves unreal Thai food. On this visit we didn't explore the delights of the restaurant, but I have only heard good reviews and look forward to visiting it soon.

It can be confirmed that the venue had all the appropriate COVID-19 measures in place. Wearing a mask face is mandatory when not sat at your table (there are signs up to remind you of this); hand sanitiser on all tables which had the QR code on the side for track and trace purposes; menus were disposable after use and all tables were placed observing the social distance rules. Overall we felt very safe.

The Tiki Bar and Kitsch Inn is getting added to Row's Recommendations with a 9/10 rating. I can't wait to visit again and work my way through even more of their delicious cocktails. This place is definitely one of a kind.
